Welcome to The Sounding Board and my inaugural post! A key focus for our firm is to build communities for our clients and help create conversations for and about them. This needs to be more than lip service, and for that reason, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be present in the discussions that face our industry today.
I want to use this forum to discuss challenges facing the PR industry as a whole, and how we can help educate clients as we deliver results for them. I'd also like to share a personal mission of mine and our firm: promoting the overwhelming presence of technology innovation in a region not often associated with tech and telecom.
If I could stand on a virtual “speaker” box, I would be shouting out about how the Washington, DC metropolitan area is an often overlooked technology center with healthy venture investing, strong technology job growth and vibrant innovation. As I relocated from Silicon Valley myself, I remember the fervor, the excitement, the inspiration that is commonplace within technology startups. I'm proud to look around and see a different intensity here than in Silicon Valley of course, but it's a smart intensity nonetheless. I look forward to hearing perspectives from others, particularly those that have a bi-coastal presence.

Hello and welcome to Plugged-In, a collective blog written by the employees of SheaHedges Group, a strategic communications agency.
This blog will serve as a space for us here at SHG to voice our thoughts and opinions on what we're passionate about: strategic communications and all that it entails with regard to the high-tech industry, government, news media and current events.
